Our Lady's Children's Hospital, Crumlin, Dublin

Sisk were recently awarded the contract for the new 17 Bed Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at our Lady's Children's Hospital Crumlin, Dublin. The unit will incorporate 5 single rooms, 4 passively pressurised isolation suites, 8 bay observation suite and associated support facilities adjacent to and replacing the existing outdated facility within the original hospital building.

The space vacated by the existing facility will be adapted under Phase 2 of the contract to provide much improved parent and family support accommodation. The new building has been designed to be constructed on a fast track programme utilising the latest methods of prefabrication and off site construction which will also assist greatly in minimising any construction disturbance to the adjacent ward areas.

The project also includes for the construction of a new state of the art wounds clinic for burns patients and new playground and car parking facilities for the wider campus. The project was designed by RKD Architects and Phase 1 is scheduled to be handed over in January 2011.
